Recall date January 11, 2018
Models affected
  • 2006 Ford Ranger
Units affected 190
Details

Note: A small production range of 2006 Rangers (190 vehicles in Canada) may pose a higher risk of airbag rupture than other recalled airbags.

These vehicles are being recalled separately due to high risk under campaign 18S02.

Click here to determine if your vehicle is affected.

Vehicles subject to 18S02 should not be driven - Contact a Ford dealer immediately to have the vehicle repaired.

On certain vehicles, the driver airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment.

Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury.

This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment.

Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant.

Correction: Dealers will replace both the driver and passenger frontal airbag inflators.
