The 2014 C-Max hit the market early in 2013. It is a compact hybrid-only crossover, powered by a combination of gas engine (2.0L four-cylinder) and electric motor good for 188 horsepower. Its 1.4 kWh battery allows a few km of electric mobility. The plug-in version, called Energi, carries a large 7.5 kWh battery and offers a bit more power at 195 combined horses. Fully charged, it will drive on electricity alone for up to 43 km. Both versions send their power to the front wheels through a CVT transmission.
