2021 GMC Canyon Gets AT4 Treatment, Refreshed Denali Trim

The new 2021 GMC Canyon was unveiled in the mountains of Colorado today with good news for customers who like to venture off-road: for the first time this midsize pickup will be available in rugged AT4 variant just like the larger Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD.

Created with outdoor adventurers in mind, the Canyon AT4 backs up GMC’s promise to offer premium off-road capable vehicles. Styling is enhanced with a new larger grille design, dark chrome finishes and red recovery hooks, not to mention unique Kalahari stitching and AT4 headrest embroidery in the cabin.

This truck isn’t just for show, of course. Standard equipment includes 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires fitted to 17-inch aluminum wheels, an off-road tuned suspension with advanced hill-descent control, a 4WD system with Eaton G80 rear automatic locking differential and a transfer case skid plate for extra protection when travelling away from the beaten path.

That being said, serious off-road enthusiasts will likely be better served by the facelifted 2021 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.

Refined Canyon Denali

At the top of the lineup, the classy 2021 Canyon Denali gets a redesigned grille with a more sculpted and layered pattern, once again to bring the truck closer to the new Sierra models. Other refinements include five-inch chrome assist steps, signature chrome accents and Denali-exclusive 20-inch Diamond Cut aluminum wheels.

Inside, you’ll find genuine open-pore ash wood trim, unique stitching and a new “Cocoa/Dark Atmosphere” colour theme. Comfort is increased with standard heated and ventilated front seats, plus a heated steering wheel.

With both pickups, customers will have a choice of a 308-horsepower gasoline V6 and a turbo-diesel four-cylinder that impresses with 369 pound-feet of torque.

Built at GM’s Wentzville Assembly Center in Wentzville, Missouri, the new 2021 GMC Canyon will be available later this year, with pricing announced closer to launch.
