2021 Jaguar F-TYPE Cranks up the Sexiness

The significantly refreshed 2021 Jaguar F-TYPE made its head-turning debut on Monday by teaming up with toy car manufacturer Hot Wheels for a one-two punch that also includes a 1:64 scale model of the British sports car.

The life-size F-TYPE will continue to be offered in coupe and convertible variants. Widely recognized as one of the sexiest cars on the road, it now sports an evolution of the iconic design introduced in 2014. Highlights include a slightly larger grille, slimmer headlights, redesigned front bumper and hood, plus newly styled taillights inspired by those on the I-PACE electric crossover.

The F-TYPE R stands out with pixel LED headlights and new, wider, 20-inch wheels in Gloss Black with diamond-turned finish, not to mention upgraded suspension components including new adaptive dampers.

Inside the 2021 Jaguar F-TYPE, material selection is even more refined than before, while a host of unique and sophisticated details punctuate the layout, such as subtle ‘Jaguar Est.1935’ markings on the centre console finisher, glovebox release button surround, and seatbelt guides.

Technological enhancements include a reconfigurable 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, Touch Pro infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard and over-the-air software updates so owners don’t have to visit a dealer. Two excellent Meridian audio systems are available, as well.

In North America, the same three engines will return: a turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 296 horsepower, a supercharged V6 producing 380 horsepower and a supercharged V8 giving the F-TYPE R as many as 575 ponies under the hood. All are matched to an eight-speed Quickshift transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddles. Rear-wheel-drive versions remain alongside the all-wheel-drive models.

Jaguar engineers wisely preserved the exceptional sound these engines are famous for. However, a new Quiet Start function can be activated by those who want to keep a lower profile at certain times.

The 2021 Jaguar F-TYPE will go on sale next spring starting at $73,000, which represents a $2,500 increase over the current model. A limited-production F-TYPE First Edition will also be available.
