The 444-hp BMW M2 CS is Coming to Canada

BMW’s M division is launching an exclusive and limited-run special edition of the 2 Series for the first time. And the great news about that is Canadians will be able to order one.

Following the lead of the outgoing M3 CS and M4 CS, the new BMW M2 CS will arrive as a high-performance model above the M2 Competition.

While the latter produces 405 horsepower from a 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, the M2 CS boosts output to 444 horsepower and completes the same sprint in as little as 4.0 seconds. Peak torque is rated at 405 pound-feet.

Purists will likely stick with the six-speed manual gearbox, but the optional seven-speed M dual-clutch transmission makes the car quicker.

The dual exhaust system on the M2 CS features two electrically controlled flaps to produce a custom sound and the four stainless steel tailpipes all bear the M logo.

Expect remarkable handling, too, with the standard adaptive M suspension (offering Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes), M Sport brakes with red-painted callipers (M carbon ceramic brakes are optional), active M differential and M Dynamic mode. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires wrap a set of lightweight 19-inch forged wheels finished in a high-gloss black or optionally a matte gold shade.

The hood is 50 percent lighter thanks to the use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and its central air vent simultaneously improves engine cooling and increases downforce. The roof is also made from CFRP. The new front splitter, Gurney spoiler lip on the trunk and rear diffuser are made from exposed carbon fibre. Exclusive Misano Blue metallic paint completes the exterior.

Inside, you’ll find lightweight M Sport bucket seats derived from the M4 CS. The seatbacks are trimmed in Merino leather and Alcantara and with red contrast stitching. An M Sport steering wheel with Alcantara covering and a red centre marker is available.

Exact Canadian specifications and pricing for the BMW M2 CS will be announced closer to its market launch in April 2020. The M2 Competition currently retails for $71,250.
