2019 Bentley Flying Spur Makes Canadian Debut in Montreal
The Car Guide was on hand at Bentley Montreal for the Canadian premiere of the new 2019 Bentley Flying Spur, which marks the third generation of the British luxury grand touring sedan.
Bentley designers and engineers made sure to wow brand enthusiasts and potential customers. They drew inspiration from the two previous generations, while the vertical slats on the regal front grille harken back to the 1957 Bentley S1 Continental Flying Spur.

Still hand-built in England, the revised twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 engine under the hood of the Flying Spur is a 626-horsepower beast. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 333 km/h.
Equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, this is the first Bentley available with electronic all-wheel steering. It also features active all-wheel drive and Bentley Dynamic Ride incorporating new three-chamber air springs for a much greater range of suspension adjustment. Occupants will feel like they’re riding on a cloud.
Bentley executives are fully aware that electrification will play a key role going forward. They plan to launch a hybrid variant for every model by 2023. No matter how many they end up selling, Walter Owen Bentley would be proud.
There is so much technology and opulence inside the new Flying Spur, it’s crazy. For example, with the industry-first Bentley Rotating Display, the wood section in the middle of the dashboard rotates to reveal a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen, displaying three, customizable digital tiles. Another side of the display reveals three analog dials.
In both front and rear, Bentley has introduced completely redesigned fluted leather seats, which feature diamond quilting for the Mulliner Driving Specification. Three-dimensional diamond quilted leather doors inserts are a world first. By the way, this motif was originally introduced on the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 concept.
The handcrafted, bespoke nature of the Flying Spur is reflected in its exclusiveness. Only 250-275 units a year are expected to be sold in Canada, with deliveries coming about five or six months after the start of production.
The 2019 Bentley Flying Spur can be ordered from $281,681. The fully loaded example showcased in Montreal topped $404,000.
