2020 Porsche Macan Turbo Returns with 434 Hp

When the Porsche Macan was refreshed a year ago, there was one important missing piece: the Turbo model.

Of course, it was only a matter of time before we would see it. And that time is now.

The 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo returns with a new twin-turbo 2.9-litre six-cylinder engine shared with the Cayenne and Panamera. It delivers 434 horsepower, nearly a ten percent increase over the previous 400-horsepower 3.6-litre unit with 20 percent less displacement. It also generates 406 pound-feet of torque across a super-wide range (1,800-5,600 rpm).

A seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive also help this model sprint from a standing start to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds—three tenths faster than before—when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package.

As for deceleration, there is no shortage of stopping power thanks to the innovative, high-performance Porsche Surface Coated Brakes (PSCB) fitted as standard. They’re said to offer a faster response, less wear and up to 90 percent less brake dust compared with conventional cast iron brakes. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) are available for a further increase in dynamics.

Aesthetically, the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo sets itself apart thanks to unique accents such as the Turbo-specific front fascia with three large air intakes and the fixed roof spoiler with its double-wing design. Superb 20-inch Turbo wheels and Sport Design side skirts also come standard. Let’s not forget the sports exhaust system with unique silver-painted tailpipes.

What about the interior? Drivers and passengers are treated to adaptive 18-way sport seats, a 10.9-inch full HD touchscreen and a 14-speaker Bose Surround Sound system. A 911-derived GT sports steering wheel is available as an option for sporty drivers.

Priced from $94,200 (up $7,000 from its predecessor and a whopping $31,200 more expensive than the 340-horsepower Macan S), the 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo can be ordered now. Deliveries in Canada will begin at the end of 2019.

If you want more power, go with a BMW X3 M or Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S instead.
