Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC Coming in the Fall… of 2020

The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB has yet to hit the market in Canada (sales will begin near the end of this year), but that didn’t stop the German automaker from announcing a high-performance version that we’ll see in the fall of 2020.

Without sacrificing the base GLB 250 4MATIC’s off-road chops, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC maximizes on-road driving dynamics thanks to a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 302 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It is further enhanced by an eight-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission, optimally tuned to deliver fast gearshifts during sporty driving, and variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

As a result, the GLB 35 4MATIC sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. A RACE START function, which is included as standard, produces the best possible traction and maximum acceleration (it remains active while the throttle is kept fully depressed).

Drivers will be able to choose between five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes that enable a wide range of vehicle characteristics. Toggling between Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual will change the response of the engine and the timing of the transmission, but also the torque distribution of the all-wheel drive system, steering characteristics, and even the intervention thresholds of the newly developed Electronic Stability Program.

These drive modes are linked to the AMG DYNAMICS agility control system, which matches handling characteristics more closely with the different driving requirements and road conditions.

With regard to styling, the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC stands out from the base GLB with an AMG-specific grille, a front splitter, a sculpted rear bumper with two round, single tailpipe trim elements, an AMG roof spoiler and 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels painted in tantalum grey with a high-sheen finish. Options include 21-inch wheels and an AMG Night package with various features in high-gloss black.

Inside, you’ll find an AMG multifunction performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and AMG-specific displays including a striking Supersport mode with a central, round rev counter and bar graph-style driver information.

And remember, a third row of seating is available making the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC a unique, seven-passenger offering in the compact SUV segment.

Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
