Toyota Corolla Sports a New, Darker look in Nightshade Edition

The all-new, twelfth-generation 2020 Toyota Corolla made its debut earlier this year and most people agree on the fact that designers did a great job.

The transformed exterior is decidedly modern and should prove more attractive to young customers. However, for those who wanted a bit more style or to make sure to turn heads, the Japanese automaker is adding a new, racier-looking version just six months later.

The Nightshade Edition of the 2020 Corolla will be available on SE models equipped with a CVT. Production is set to begin this fall, though pricing remains unspecified.

As the name suggests, this Corolla features specially designed black coloured accents and design features. We’re talking about the front and rear lower bumpers, wheels, door handles, mirror caps, rear spoiler and various badges.

Toyota failed to mention whether the Nightshade Edition is available with all the different body colours or just a few. What we do know is that no mechanical or technical changes are part of the package.

In terms of equipment, the Corolla SE CVT includes a 2.0-litre engine rated at 169 horsepower, LED headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, Smart Key access with push-button start and an eight-inch touchscreen paired with Toyota Connected Services.

The Corolla and Corolla Hatchback become the fourth and fifth Toyota models to offer a Nightshade Edition. The others are the 4Runner and Highlander SUVs as well as the Sienna minivan.

What do you think of this latest addition?
