2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Goes Dark with Octane Edition

Because muscle cars are always better and more desirable when they come in unique, limited editions, FCA this week unveiled a new, blacked-out version of the 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat—which, by the way, is still the quickest, fastest and most powerful sedan in the world.

Available in either Pitch Black or White Knuckle (why?), the Octane Edition package starts with full-length Satin Black centre stripes featuring Octane Red accent tracers on each edge, then darkens all the exterior badges (grille, decklid, fenders) and adds a Satin Black decklid spoiler.

The 20-inch forged-aluminum Cross Brace wheels are painted in Low-gloss Black and accompanied by a set of Brembo brakes with unique Octane Red paint on the six-piston front and four-piston rear callipers.

Inside, the somber theme continues with SRT Performance seats featuring a Houndstooth insert and a SRT Hellcat logo stitched into the seatback. Red accent stitching can be found on these buckets as well as throughout the cabin. Red seat belts, a black-on-black SRT Hellcat instrument panel badge, gloss black interior accents and Dark Brushed II instrument panel and console bezels complete the transformation.

There are no changes to the 707-horsepower, supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8, however.

For the record, FCA did make a few important upgrades to the Dodge Charger lineup for 2019. In particular, the SRT Hellcat received a new performance grille with dual inlets, new instrument panel badging, an Alcantara interior package and four race-inspired technologies: Launch Assist, Line Lock (perfect for burnouts!), After-Run Chiller (which keeps cooling the supercharger after the engine is shut off) and Torque Reserve (delivered upon acceleration from a standing stop).

The 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition can be ordered now at Dodge//SRT dealers in the U.S. (where the package costs $1,495) and will start arriving this fall. Once again, we’re sorry to tell you that we have no details yet about Canadian availability.
