2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia: Only 15 Units for North America

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will get a limited-edition trim for the 2020 model year, and so few units of the car will be sold in North America that a few years down the road, it could very well be considered collectible.

The 4C Spider Italia will boast an exclusive Misano Blue Metallic paint job, piano black front air intake and rear bumper diffuser, graphics with the colours of the Italian flag on the car’s flanks, a logo on the dashboard and a numbered plaque on the centre console.

Mechanically, there are no changes, which means the Italia will be equipped with a turbocharged, 1.75-litre four-cylinder engine that develops 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It’s managed by a six-speed, dual-clutch automated transmission that feeds power to the rear wheels. FCA claims a 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 257 km/h.

Since the 2019 model year, the two-seat Alfa Romeo 4C is only offered in North America in Spider configuration, which features a removable fabric roof section that can be rolled up and thrown into the car’s small trunk.

Pricing and an on-sale date haven’t yet been announced, but only 15 units of the 2020 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Italia will be sold in North America, so it will be pretty rare. Then again, as little as 293 4Cs have been bought in out continent in 2018 (including 50 in Canada), so any version of the lightweight sports car can be considered exclusive.
