2019 Ford Edge and Ford Edge ST: We're Heading to Utah to Drive Them
This week, we’ll be in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the North-American launch of the 2019 Ford Edge as well as its new performance variant, the 2019 Ford Edge ST.
Important Update
The 2019 Ford Edge isn’t entirely new, but is rather a mid-cycle refresh of the current model, incorporating significant new features as well as adding an ST trim to the lineup.

The Edge is an important vehicle for Ford as it sits right smack in the middle of the popular midsize crossover segment. Last year, Ford shipped more than 180,000 units of the Edge in North America alone.
Engine-wise, things will remain relatively unchanged for standard Edge models, with the default engine being a 2.0-litre turbocharged four. However, horsepower was slightly raised by five for a total of 250 hp. Torque remains unchanged at 275 lb.-ft., but an all-new eight speed automatic gearbox is now standard. The new Edge will get a slight styling change, an updated interior and new safety and connectivity technology.
The First Ford SUV to Get the ST Trim
It’s the Edge ST that gets all the attention, and with reason. Replacing the Edge Sport, it will be the first Ford SUV to receive modifications from the Sport Technologies division. On top of having a bolder overall design, a retuned suspension and larger brakes, the Edge ST will be powered by a twin-turbo 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6, good for a claimed 335 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque. All-wheel drive will come standard, and so will the new eight-speed automatic.
