Honda Civic Si Gets HFP Treatment and Becomes Even Hotter

The Honda Civic Si sure offers a nice compromise between the base Civic and the almighty Type R when talking about design and everyday performance. As noted in our review, it remains a smart choice to enjoy cheap thrills behind the wheel.

However, for those who would like a bit more style and some dynamic upgrades, Honda Canada is bringing back the HFP package—you know, as in Honda Factory Performance.

Chief among the cosmetic additions is a red-striped lip spoiler that enhances the sporty look up front. The Honda Civic Si HFP also features side skirts along with 19” HFP matte black alloy wheels, not to mention red and black HFP badges. On the inside, performance-inspired red and black HFP floor mats complement the leather-wrapped shifter with red stitching.

Where things get more interesting in our opinion is the sportier suspension that still includes the Civic Si's active dampers. Expect a comfortable ride during daily commutes and more balanced handling on the track. The new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires will help in that department, too. Unfortunately, no exhaust modifications are part of the package, so we won’t get the more aggressive sound effects we were hoping for.

The 2018 Honda Civic Si HFP is now on sale at dealerships nationwide in both sedan and coupe variants, with prices starting at $34,390 and $34,790, respectively. You can have it in black, white or red (coupe only). In case you’re wondering, that’s $5,900 over a regular Civic Si, which seems like a hefty premium considering the relatively minor upgrades, but of course we’ll let you make the final decision.
