2019 Range Rover SV Coupé Bows in Geneva
In order to compete with the plushest SUVs on the market, such as the Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Land Rover has just created something unique, the full-size two-door SV Coupe, based on the flagship Range Rover model.
The new SUV’s cockpit will, according to the manufacturer, “set new standards for materials and craftsmanship, with extensive personalisation options for SV Coupe clients.” The four-seat layout is dressed up with semi-aniline, diamond quilted leather upholstery, along with one of four single-tone or four two-tone front-to-rear colour combinations. Among the available wood trims is what the brand calls Nautica veneer, a fusion of walnut and sycamore.

The 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe includes heated, ventilated and 20-way power-adjustable front seats, 10-way power rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, soft-close doors, a 10-inch head-up display, a 12-inch driver instrument panel as well as an InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. The latter features a 10-inch display, a 10-inch touchscreen and a 1700-watt, 23-speaker Meridian sound system.
The hood and lower portion of the tailgate are shared with the four-door Range Rover, but every other body panel is new. Eight paint colours are available for the coupe, including four exclusive ones. Twenty-one inch wheels are standard, while 22- and 23-inch gumballs are optional.
Only the most powerful engine in Range Rover’s portfolio will do for the SV Coupe. It’s the supercharged, 5.0-litre V8 that belts out 557 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and, of course, four-wheel drive. The English brand claims a 0-100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h.
Compared to the four-door variant, the 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe’s ride height is dropped by eight millimetres, and the standard air suspension can lower the SUV by another 60 mm at higher speeds for the sake of improved stability and aerodynamics. The ride height can also be increased for owners who feel like going off-road from time to time. We just can’t imagine who will hit the trails aboard an SUV that will retail for $335,000 in Canada, but it’s important to know that the vehicle is nonetheless capable.
Only 999 units of the 2019 Range Rover SV Coupe will be produced for worldwide consumption. If you want one, you’d better act now.
