Aspark Owl: Zero to 100 km/h in Two Seconds!

Ok, let’s not get too excited yet. Here’s yet another fully electric supercar shown at a major auto show that promises blistering performance and environmental friendliness.

At the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show, an obscure Japanese company called Aspark showed off their car, called the Owl. It’s powered by electric motors on each axle, providing all-wheel drive and a combined output of 435 metric horsepower and 563 pound-feet of torque. While the numbers aren’t breathtaking, the two-seater Owl’s curb weight checks in at just 850 kilograms, or 1874 pounds.

According to Aspark, their EV supercar is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.0 seconds, which would make it one of the fastest production cars in the world. It also boasts a driving range of 150 km on a full charge. In theory, because not much information is available on the Owl, or the company itself.

Its wheelbase is set at 2757 millimetres, while overall length is 4830 mm. However, the roofline is only 990 mm high, so the car is very flat and wide. It also rides on 275/35R19 front and 335/30R20 rear tires.

Right now, there is no confirmation on when the car will be ready for production, how much it will cost, and if it will reach the North American market. We’ll keep you posted.
