2017 Ford GT, Their Fastest Car Ever

We shouldn’t be too surprised about Ford’s latest news regarding their new 2017 GT supercar. It boasts the highest top speed of any production Ford vehicle in history, and the fastest around a track.

Thanks to its twin-turbo, 3.5-litre V6, which develops an official output of 647 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, the 2017 Ford GT can reach a top speed of 346 km/h. In addition, the car is equipped with a set of active spoilers to provide optimal downforce, aerodynamics and balance at high speeds.

Ford obviously tested the GT’s performance prowess on the track, and chose the Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario to do so. They also brought a McLaren 675LT and a Ferrari 488 Speciale as benchmarks. With the same pilot aboard all three vehicles, the GT was the fastest one around the circuit, with a lap time of 2:09.8. The McLaren came in second with a time of 2:10.8 while the Ferrari couldn’t do better than 2:12.9.

As this was an exercise backed by Ford, we shouldn’t too startled by the results. What’s important here is what we mentioned earlier; it’s the fastest Ford ever built.

The 2017 Ford GT is also equipped with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automated gearbox provided by Getrag, a rear-wheel drivetrain with a limited-slip differential, a suspension with DSSV electronically adjustable dampers, hydraulic power steering as well as massive carbon ceramic disc brakes pinched by Brembo callipers. As standard, the GT is shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, sized 245/35R20 up front and 325/30R20 at the rear, while carbon fibre wheels are optional.

Oh, and the 2017 Ford GT’s trunk capacity is rated at… 11 litres.
