As if 700 horsepower wasn’t enough, the new Aventador S gets an increase in output. But since power is nothing without control, the Italian manufacturer’s flagship supercar also benefits from what is called Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva, or LDVA, which means Lamborghini Active Vehicle Dynamics.
Basically, it’s a roundup of active technologies that enhance the car’s handling characteristics, which obviously includes all-wheel drive, but also Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS), Lamborghini Rear-wheel Steering (LRS), Lamborghini Magnetorheological suspension (LMS) and active rear aerodynamics. The Aventador S also benefits from specifically developed Pirelli P Zero tires, sized 255/30ZR20 up front and 355/25ZR21 at the rear.
The car’s naturally aspirated, 6.5-litre V12 now belts out 740 metric horsepower at 8400 rpm as well as 507 pound-feet of torque at 5500 rpm. It’s still connected to a seven-speed automated gearbox, and according to Lamborghini, it allows the Aventador S to blast from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, from 0 to 300 km/h in just over 24 seconds, while top speed is pegged at 350 km/h.
The drive mode system includes four settings, all of which adjust the reactivity of the engine, the transmission, the steering and the suspension. Aside from Strada (street), Sport and Corsa (race) modes, the new Ego mode, which basically allows the driver to customise every single adjustment to their preference.
Visually, the Lamborghini Aventador S can be recognised by its new front bumper, rear fascia, hexagonal tailpipes and reshaped side air vents. The manufacturer claims a 130% increase in front downforce as well as improved cooling and efficiency. Inside, there’s a new S-trim package, while buyers can choose Carbon Skin materials and even opt for exposed sections of the carbon body. LED ambiance lighting and a redesigned instrument panel round out the changes.
The Lamborghini Aventador S should soon arrive in Canadian dealerships.
