Aston Martin Recalls Cars for Door Lock Issues

Do you know someone who owns an Aston Martin? If you do, consider yourself lucky and ask for a ride; these are exceptional machines that deserve to be enjoyed.

However, Transport Canada just published a warning for the locks and the door mechanism.

On every single DB9 produced between 2009 and 2015 as well as the 2009-2012 DBS, the 2010-2015 Rapide, the 2013-2015 Rapide S, the V12 and V8-powered 2009-2015 Vantage, the 2012-2015 Vanquish, the 2011-2012 Virage and the exclusive 2012-2013 Zagato, there is a double-locking feature that will not let the doors be opened by an occupant inside the vehicle unless the unlock button is pressed on the vehicle key. As a result, occupants may be at a greater risk of being locked in the vehicle in an emergency situation.

Note that this isn’t a defect: this function comes standard on the British cars. Transport Canada however thinks that it is dangerous and should be turned off.

The fix will be simple: dealerships will simply download a new program in the car’s computer.
