Lamborghini Huracán LP 580-2: Less Traction, More Fun

Driving enthusiasts will typically say that the best driver’s cars are RWD vehicles; without an all-wheel drive layout that typically understeers and adds weight over the front axle, a car is usually easier to control and more fun to drive.

Those enthusiasts have been asking for a two-wheel-drive version of Lamborghini’s entry-level car for a long time, and the Gallardo got a rear-wheel-drive limited-edition version (the Valentino Balboni) that was super successful.

Just before debuting in the flesh at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Lamborghini decided to announce what their fans have been asking for: here is the Lamborghini Huracán LP580-2.

As the name implies, this Lamborghini is only two-wheel drive, trading its front differential for a beefier one in the back. This gives it a 33-kg weight advantage, however that is offset by a 30-horsepower deficiency compared to the "regular" Huracán.

While it is theoretically slower than its four-wheel-drive brethren (0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h), this Huracán will offer an amazing driving experience. Fitted with custom Pirelli P-Zero tires, the LP580-2 also benefits from retuned suspension, steering and stability control system calibration.

Pricing for the Canadian version hasn’t been announced. However, the Lamborghini Huracán LP580-2 will be sold for 150,000 euros, which is about $215,517 here.
