Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio: Fast And Beautiful

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Alfa Romeo had a few example of its sleek Giulia, more specifically the Quadrifoglio high-performance variant.

Built as a competitor to the German offerings in the high-performance luxury sedan segment, the car features a turbocharged 2.9-litre V6. This engine not only emits one of Italy’s finest melodies, it also develops 510 horsepower. Since the whole car weighs only 1,540 kilos (which is perfectly split 50:50 between the two axles), it will be able to get from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 3.9 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 307 km/h. This last piece of data is important, as it means that the Giulia Quadrifoglio would become the fastest of its competitors.

And not only in a straight line. If we are to believe the manufacturer, the car allegedly lapped the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes 39 seconds; this is not only faster than the BMWs and Mercedes-AMG that it will go up against, but it would also beat a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and a McLaren-Mercedes SLR, to give you an idea. Our colleagues at Petrolicious also made an interesting comparison: if someone was to take a Giulia Quadrifoglio and take it back in time to the seventies, this bone-stock sedan sold with a warranty would win in a race around the ‘Ring against some of the fastest racecars of the era, like the Porsche 908 and the Ferrari 512 S… By a solid four seconds.

Suffice to say we are VERY eager to drive the voluptuous Italian car…
