Maserati Levante to Start Production in 2015

According to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne, Maserati will start producing the Levante SUV in 2015. Production will be at its Mirafiori plant in northern Italy.

"We are getting Mirafiori ready for production (of the Maserati SUV). The first bodies are expected for 2015," Marchionne said. His comments came during the Geneva Motor Show yesterday.

Maserati had originally envisioned production in Detroit, Michigan but then later settled on Italy. The Levante will be based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform.

Fiat also plans for Alfa-Romeo to build a smaller, Cherokee-based SUV at the same plant.  More info on this new model should be released in the next few months.
