2013 SRT Viper Priced For American Showrooms

Chrysler has priced the new 2013 SRT Viper for U.S. customers, and, as expected, it appears as though the vehicle will be the most expensive product in the company's line-up. The 2013 SRT Viper will start at an MSRP of $97395 for the entry-level edition, ranging up to $120395 for the Viper GTS model. Each of these coupes will also be slapped with a $1995 delivery charge. Prices in Canada will most likely be higher, as the previous generation of the Viper was available here for just under $100,000.

Chrysler has taken care to keep the SRT Viper's sticker below that of its primary domestic competitor, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (which starts at over $110,000). Although both versions of the Viper come with the same 640 horsepower, 8.4-liter V10 engine (that also generates 600 lb-ft of torque), the additional cost of the Viper GTS pays for suspension upgrades, additional luxury gear, and advanced driving aides.

It's not just customers that will have to pay more for the privilege of owning a Viper - dealers are also being tagged with additional SRT-related costs. Each American SRT dealership will be required to make a $24180 payment to Chrysler in order to offer the SRT Viper for sale. The automaker says that this fee is intended to cover additional training and tools associated with servicing the specialty vehicle, as well as renovations to showrooms in order to maintain the image that Chrysler intends to wrap around its halo car.

The fee includes the $4840 already asked of dealerships looking to sell any SRT vehicle, and provides them with first-in-line ordering capability for the high performance models. There are, of course, a few other perks associated with the right to sell the SRT Viper. The most exciting, from a staff perspective, is the ability to participate each year in the same track day training that is provided free of charge to anyone who purchases an SRT vehicle.
