2013 SRT Viper: World premiere at the New York Auto Show

In an interview with Viper Magazine, the head of Chrysler’s SRT Division, Ralph Gilles, confirmed that the next edition of the Viper will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show. And it will be called the “SRT Viper.”

Few other details were leaked in the interview. What we do know is that the super car currently being developed will be built on an Italian platform.

Both coupe and convertible versions will be available.

V8 or V10

Ralph Gilles (a former resident of Montreal) proved very tight-lipped on the subject – especially on the technical specs.

As a result, we still don’t know whether a V8 or V10 engine will make its way under the 2013 SRT Viper’s stretched hood.

Word is that the new Viper will be more civilized and more powerful. Speculators are saying that it will feature an 8.7L V10 HEMI capable of producing nearly 600 horsepower.

Obviously, it’s expected to be more fuel efficient than the previous model (not that hard to achieve), but no one is about to call it a green vehicle either!
